vistadome coach: Bengaluru-Mangaluru day train may get Vistadome coach | Bengaluru News – Times of India

BENGALURU: Rail passengers travelling between Bengaluru and Mangaluru during the day can soon get a panoramic view of the picturesque ghats section.
Officials said one Vistadome (glass-top) AC coach has been allocated to South Western Railway. Chief public relations officer E Vijaya said it may be deployed on the Bengaluru – Mangaluru day train, though it has not been finalised since the coach is yet to arrive.
Vistadome coaches, which will be attached to the existing trains, have 40 reclining chairs that can rotate 360 degrees. In addition to the glass roof, the coaches will have LED lights, GPS-based info system, microwave and small refrigerators.
Many activists welcomed the decision. “The day train suspended due to Covid-19 is yet to become operational. But the route, particularly Subrahamanya Road-Sakleshpur Ghat section, is scenic. We are hoping normal services will resume in April. It will be a different experience for tourists: the 55km section has several bridges, waterfalls and tunnels,” said KN Krishna Prasad, founder-member of Karnataka Railway Vedike.
