U-turn: No vaccine for airport staff in Karnataka | Bengaluru News – Times of India

BENGALURU: A day after the department of health and family welfare (H&FW) said all airport staff will be considered as frontline workers and be eligible to take the Covid-19 vaccine, the commissioner has withdrawn the circular issued a fresh one.
The fresh one reads: “No action should be taken on that circular. At airports in Karnataka, only the staff covered as healthcare and frontline workers as defined in the Government of India (GoI) instructions will be included for vaccination.”
A senior health department official, while conceding that lack of clarity on the issue resulted in the department issuing the first circular, said: “GoI has to take a call on that… Only airport staff who are medical professionals, home guards, armed forces etc are covered at present going by the GoI guidelines.”
The first circular was issued late on January 22, while the one withdrawing that was issued late on Saturday (Jan 23).
