Three more held in honeytrap case in Dakshina Kannada | Mangaluru News – Times of India


MANGALURU: Dakshina Kannada police arrested three more people on Monday in connection with a honeytrap case registered in Puttur Rural police station recently.
The arrested are Mohammed Shafi, 34, from Nettanigemudnur in Puttur, Mohammed Azharuddin, 30, and Nazeer M, 38, from Savanoor in Kadaba. The accused were arrested from Sarve in Puttur and police have recovered about Rs 7 lakh that they extorted from the complainant and seized a car worth Rs 5 lakh, an autorickshaw worth Rs 1 lakh and three mobile phones.
SP Rishikesh Sonawane said the investigation is on to nab the others involved in the case. On July 2, police arrested a 23-year-old woman from Bantwal taluk, based on a complaint by Abdul Nasir.
It is learnt that after becoming friends on WhatsApp, the accused and the complainant were sexting. Once the accused recorded an obscene video of the complainant and demanded Rs 30 lakh. They threatened to make the video go viral if he did not pay up. A case was registered on June 30.
