Three held for hacking Bidari’s account | Bengaluru News – Times of India

BENGALURU: Three persons, including a woman, were arrested for allegedly hacking the email ID of former DG&IGP Shankar Bidari recently and sending mails to his contacts seeking monetary assistance.
Thiya, 31, Seropa, 27, and Easter Konayak alias Rubika, 28, are residents of Horamavu and from Nagaland.
Rubika came to Bengaluru four years ago and initially worked as a salesgirl and later in beauty parlours. She left her job after she came in contact with the main accused — John and Peter — and started assisting them in their online frauds. In the first week of March, Bidari filed a complaint with South-East CEN police. One of his contacts had transferred Rs 25,000 to the account mentioned in the mail sent by the miscreants, and the former IGP came to know about it after some friends informed him about the mail.
A team headed by LY Rajesh and subinspector Laxmi Mendigeri picked up Thiya and Seropa based on information they had gathered from the bank account. They told police that Rubika had opened accounts in their names and offered commission. Later, Rubika was taken into custody.
Rubika met John and Peter through social media and became friends. The duo asked Rubika to open accounts using original documents of unemployed youths and send them details. As they paid her good commission, she quit her job to support the duo. “She contacted unemployed youths from Nagaland and collected their ID proofs including Aadhaar card, PAN card, rental agreement, and opened bank accounts. The main accused used those accounts to get the money deposited by cybercrime victims. We’ll get details of the victims only after we nab John and Peter,” an officer said.
