He said he took a mini statement and found out that there were three unauthorised transactions made from the account and Rs. 42,595 had been put into different accounts. “I checked with the bank and found out that the transaction was made through an online wallet and when we checked his phone, the application was deleted. We reinstalled and learnt that someone had misused his phone and made the transactions inside the covid ward. He was not in a condition to use the mobile and someone who got to know his screen password, took his phone and tried their luck with the online wallet.
My uncle had kept the same password for the application and the UPI as well and using that, the person made the transactions and then uninstalled the app. They have also deleted all the messages and returned the mobile along with his other belongings on the next day of his death,” he said.
He said the family suspects the hospital staff or anyone who was inside the covid ward to be behind this crime. The family is currently in Kolar and on May 30, they found out about the theft. They have now approached the
