Sources claimed that Arun Kumar has also confessed to the investigating police officers about Sampath Raj making calls to the accused from his phone. However, officials are yet to verify these claims with the accused Muzammil Pasha.
Meanwhile, investigations have also revealed that the Pulikeshinagar ward corporator Abdul Rakeeb Zakir had also made several calls to the accused on that night and in reverse, received many calls from Pasha. Post 1.30 am, Zakir had switched off his phone and remained incommunicado to anyone in his ward, the police added.
On Friday, the investigating team conducted spot inspections at the DJ Halli police station and KG Halli police station, They also inspected a godown near the Kaval Byrasandra bus stop, where the accused had initially gathered before heading towards the DJ Halli police station.
The officers were accompanied by six prime accused on the spot.
On Thursday night, 30 more people were arrested, adding up the total number of arrests to over 430. Currently, 65 cases have been registered and the CCB has invoked stringent sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act against the accused. It might also be recalled that one of the accused Samiuddin, a resident of KG Halli is a close associate of accused in the murder of RSS worker Rudresh. Four people were killed in the police firing on the night of August 11 (Tuesday).
