Teen accuses 2 brothers of rape in Bengaluru, conversion bid | Bengaluru News – Times of India

BENGALURU: A 19-year-old girl filed a rape and cheating complaint against two brothers, alleging that one of them insisted she convert to Islam to get married to him.
The girl, a resident of south Bengaluru, complained to police last week against Shabbir Ahmed and his brother Mohammed Rilwan. According to the complaint, she befriended Shabbir in 2018, who claimed to be a hotel owner, and the same year he got her a job as a receptionist there.
She alleged Shabbir raped her four times from October 2018 to January 2019 after which their relationship ended. In February 2019, Shabbir’s brother Mohammed Rilwan came to know about it and consoled her. As days passed, the girl and Rilwan fell in love. In 2019, Rilwan convinced the girl’s parents that he would marry her. The family decided to register their wedding in the sub-registrar’s office in January 2020 and host a function the next day at a temple.
Rilwan wanted to work in Dubai and asked the girl to join him so that she too could get a good job there. But he allegedly insisted she convert to Islam, to which she objected, the girl told police. While her family were printing the wedding invitation letters, Rilwan went missing. Later, she found out that Rilwan had already married on September 14. CK Acchukattu police said they arrested Shabbir and are trying to locate Rilwan.
(The victim’s identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme Court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
