Sent back by hospital without test, newlywed man dies of Covid in Bengaluru | Bengaluru News – Times of India

BENGALURU: A 35-year-old newlywed man died of Covid-19 at his residence in BTM Layout on Sunday.
Ram had tied the knot two weeks ago in Kolkata and returned to Bengaluru with his wife. He ran a women’s paying guest accommodation in BTM Layout with at least 16 inmates and also cooked for them.
He developed fever and cold and visited a private hospital on Saturday. Though his oxygen levels were 80, the hospital gave him medicines and sent him home allegedly without testing him. On Sunday morning, when Ram did not wake up, his wife called his brother.
They immediately informed BBMP officials who conducted a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) and confirmed Ram was infected with Covid-19. A BBMP volunteer said the private hospital where he’d gone should have warned him since his oxygen levels were low.
“We have taken samples of the 16 women staying in the PG and all are under isolation. Ram’s wife and brother have tested positive and shifted to a hospital,” the volunteer said.
