He added the government has clamped down on clubs and video game parlours and if police fail to enforce norms, Yuva Morcha leadership must take legal recourse. “I have directed the (police) commissioner not to allow any activity that will spoil students’ future,” Kateel said.
Police commissioner Vikash Kumar said they will ensure pubs, bars and restaurants meet licence conditions. “As a public representative, he has shared his concern,” Kumar said. Shylaja Kote, deputy commissioner of excise, said there are two independent retail vendors of beer (pubs) and 216 bars and restaurants operating under CL-9 licence in DK.
Sudarshan Moodbidri, president of the BJP district unit, said Kateel’s statement was in the backdrop of steps taken by the government to curb illegal activities.
