Petrol costs Rs 107.64/litre in Bengaluru, diesel Rs 92.03/litre | Bengaluru News – Times of India

BENGALURU: Motorists in the city heaved a sigh of relief on Thursday after the Centre slashed excise duty.
In Bengaluru, per litre petrol price reduced from Rs 113.93 on Wednesday (November 3) to Rs 107.64 on Thursday (November 4), a reduction of Rs 6.29 / litre. Similarly, diesel price slashed from Rs 104.50/litre on Wednesday to Rs 92.03/litre on Thursday, a cut by Rs 12.47/litre
The Centre on Wednesday evening slashed excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 5 and Rs 10 respectively which came into effect from Thursday. Fuel prices across Karnataka will further become cheaper from Friday. The Karnataka government on Wednesday night announced a Rs 7 reduction in the state tax on fuels which will be implemented from Friday.
After the reduction of state tax, petrol in Bengaluru is likely to be priced at Rs 100/litre and diesel at Rs 85/litre from Friday. With a Rs 7 cut in the Karnataka sales tax, the state is expected to suffer a Rs 2,100-crore loss to the exchequer.
However, statistics from Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) show fuel prices in the city continue to be high. In fact, petrol price increased from Rs 71.97/litre in March 2020 to Rs 107.64 on November 4, 2021, an increase by Rs 35.67 per litre. Similarly, diesel price hiked from Rs 64.4/litre in March 2020 to Rs 92.03/litre on November 4, 2021, an increase by Rs 27.63/litre.
