People elected me considering my work: Mangaluru MLA U T Khader | Mangaluru News – Times of India

MANGALURU: RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat’s recent comment asking people of Mangaluru constituency to elect a non-Muslim candidate has stirred a hornet’s nest with Mangaluru MLA U T Khader countering it.
Recently, Bhat had told reporters that people of Mangaluru constituency should elect a non-Muslim candidate as their MLA. Bhat, who is the executive committee member of south-central region of RSS, had earlier in November last year had made a similar statement by comparing Ullal in Mangaluru constituency to Pakistan.
Reacting to Bhat’s statements, Khader said people of his constituency had elected him considering his humanitarian qualities and development. “They have elected me considering the development works that I have taken up. Calling a region in India as Pakistan is sedition. People in Ullal (Mangaluru constituency) had elected people from different religions in the previous elections. Where was Bhat when people were striving during the Covid-19 pandemic recently. Did Bhat go to hospitals and enquired about the health of Hindus? Did he help people during the pandemic? Congress workers took initiatives to conduct the last rites of many Covid-19 victims. He did not visit Ullal when people were in difficulty,” Khader quipped.
Recently, miscreants had dropped condoms, dummy notes, and a poster with pictures of Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa and his son MP B Y Vijayendra with a cross around his neck and objectionable messages into the collection boxes of temples in and around Mangaluru. Reacting to this, Bhat told reporters that religious sentiments have been hurt in Ullal.
Ullal also may witness the same situation that persisted in Pakistan, where Hindus were facing ill-treatment and Hindu women were converted while temples were vandalized, Bhat said and dared people if they have the guts to make a non-Muslim as their MLA.
