No flyover on Outer Ring Road will be demolished for Metro work: BMRCL | Bengaluru News – Times of India

BENGALURU: The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) on Thursday clarified that no flyover on the Outer Ring Road (Central Silk Board – K R Puram) will be demolished.
The BMRCL stated that there are five footover-bridges (FOBs) in this corridor. Of this, two FOBs will be affected for now.
“The FOB at the upcoming Bellandur Metro station is infringing at concourse level, which needs to be removed. However, after construction of the Bellandur station it can be used as FOB,” said a BMRCL press release.
“FOB between Ibbalur and Bellandur Metro stations is infringing the viaduct will be relocated on either side of the existing location by about 60-70 meters where sufficient vertical clearances are available”, it said.
“FOB adjacent to the Embassy building which is also infringing with pier location P282 will not be dismantled /relocated as BMRCL is modifying its span to facilitate Metro construction”, it said.
“Another under construction FOB between Ibbalur and Bellandur Metro stations is free from infringement and does not require any relocation or dismantling”, it said.
For the proposed FOB after Kadubeesanahalli Metro Station, BMRCL has sought details from BBMP for clearances required for construction of viaduct.
BMRCL Chief Public Relations Officer B L Yashavanth Chavan, in a statement said: “It is also clarified that no flyover on the ORR will be demolished, but the Metro construction will be done in the space available between the split flyover locations” he adds.
