Mysuru doctor suicide: Protest continues against officials responsible | Mysuru News – Times of India

MYSURU: For the third day in a row, health department staff including doctors are boycotting Covid-19 related duties in the Mysuru district, Kodagu district and neighboring Chamarajanagar district demanding action against officials responsible for the suicide of Nanjangud taluk health officer SR Nagendra on Thursday morning.
SR Nagendra, 42 years, taluk health officer of Najangud committed suicide on early hours of Thursday at his residence in Alanahalli.
It can be recalled that on Friday, due to the protest of the doctors, the health department staff district recorded zero Covid 19 positive cases as the Covid 19 swab samples are not collected.
According to the Health department officials from Mysuru, the doctors are not attending any Covid 19 duty. “Only emergency cases are now being attended. No doctor reported to the duty even today,” explained officials.
Doctors and other health department staff are gathered infront of the DHO office in Nazarabad demanding action against officials.
In neighboring Chamarajanagar also doctors are not attending any Covid 19 duty. “However, doctors are attending all the emergency cases,” said DHO Dr. L Ravi to TOI.
In Madikeri also only emergency services are available in the primary health centers.
Meanwhile, the state government doctors association is holding a meeting on Sunday in Bengaluru. “If our demands are not met, this strike will be expanded to all the districts,” said the association members who are holding a protest in Mysuru.
