MANGALURU: A woman worker, serving in the water supply section of the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC), has alleged that a senior officer in the city corporation has been harassing her in the office.
The woman, who is an outsourced staff, has filed a complaint with the department of women and child development, alleging the officer has been putting pressure on her to work for more hours than regular work hours.
Since the complaint is related to work hours, the officials of the women and child development department have forwarded the complaint to the administrative section of the MCC.
Deputy director of the women and child development department, Papabovi, said the woman has filed a complaint alleging work pressure.
“We can take up the complaint from women, if the allegation is related to sexual abuse. She is complaining that she has more work pressure, and was being asked to work after 7pm. I have suggested her to inform this to her higher-ups in the city corporation. I have suggested her to write to the administrator of the city corporation. Meanwhile, I will also write to the administrative officer and commissioner of the MCC, attaching the copy of her complaint,” he said.
When contacted, MCC commissioner Akshy Sridhar said, “I will have to go through the complaint. Any wrongdoing will be strictly dealt with, as per conduct rules or concerned law.”
