MANGALURU: Mangaluru City police has seized the vehicle that dumped a load of waste near Kotepura beach and have handed over the vehicle to City Municipal Council, (CMC) Ullal.
The police have identified the vehicle’s RC owner as G Usman of Ullaibettu and driver Abdul Khader. The vehicle was handed over to Shajith, senior health inspector, CMC, Ullal
The CMC had written to the Mangaluru South Traffic police requesting them to seize the vehicle that was found dumping a load of waste near Kotepura beach on Tuesday.
Based on a video clip that was shared by the public, about a waste load comprising mostly thermocol, cardboard and construction debris being dumped in the ocean, the Ullal CMC had written to the city traffic police to seize the lorry and book a case under various sections of the Karnataka Municipal Act.
Municipal Commissioner Rayappa said that they would impose a fine upto Rs 50,000 on the vehicle that is currently parked in the CMC premise.
