Karnataka: Parent assaulted at police station over unpaid fee | Bengaluru News – Times of India

RAICHUR: In a shocking incident, a parent of a 15-year-old teen pursuing 10th standard in a private school was assaulted inside the premises of Sindhanur city police station by a member of school management over unpaid fee.
Although incident was happened on February 2, it came to light about two days later highlighting the harassment paid by parents of private school going children. The police has now registered FIR and arrested one person.
According to father of the teen, they have been hounded by the management of Montessori Public School from Jan following which they approached education department. “On Jan 27, when my son went to school, the principal made him wait outside the class room forcing him to pay the fee immediately,” he informed.
The boy informed about the same to parents and parents came along with a few activists. There was spat between parents and management. The management filed a complaint at Sindhanur police of threatening them.
Father further narrating sequence of incident said, On Feb 2, the police summoned him to station to resolve the issue. He alleged that Director of the school, Satish Kumar pushed him and his son and assaulted in front of a senior police officer. The mother of the kid later filed complaint.
Sindhanur Block Education Officer (BEO), Sharanappa Vatgal said on Jan 25 parents approached him to solve the issue. The father said he wanted transfer certificate back to get his son joined at another school. ” I spoke to the management and they agreed. But on Jan 27 the management failed to handover the TC citing pendency of fees. There was scuffle that day and at station assault was reported,” he said
Sharanappa said now the department has again intervened and got the TC for the student. Raichur SP Praksh Nikam talking ToI said case has been filed under relevant sections and a person related to school management who was involved in the asset, Satish Kumar has been arrested and produced before the magistrate.
