The Karnataka government on Saturday announced further relaxation of lockdown restrictions in 16 districts, including Bengaluru Urban, of 30 in the state which have less than 5% Covid-19 positivity rate. The relaxations will come into effect from Monday. Karnataka has seen 2,856 cases of mucormycosis, with the tech capital reporting the highest number (959), according to the health and family welfare department. Of these, 2,316 patients are currently undergoing treatment. Dismissing the demand made by traders for a discount in property tax due to Covid-19 lockdown, BBMP chief commissioner Gaurav Gupta on Saturday said the civic agency is not in a position to give any discount as its expenses have doubled due to Covid management.
