Karnataka: Mysuru DC appeals public to get vaccines at the earliest | Mysuru News – Times of India

MYSURU: Mysuru DC Bagadi Gautham appealed to the people of Mysuru to come forward to take vaccines at the earliest. “If all get fully vaccinated in the next two weeks, we will be in a position to handle any Covid challenges,” he said.
“Those who have not taken first and second dose must take the vaccine. The district has sufficient stock of Covid vaccine,” he informed.
In Mysuru district, out of the target population of 24,38,000, the first dose was administered to 22,68,016 persons. About 93% of the targeted population is covered with the first dose and 67% is fully vaccinated. More than, 2 lakh are due for their second dose.
Speaking to the reporters, Bagadi Gautham informed that earlier, when the vaccine was being administered at the hospital, people were standing in queue to take the vaccine. “In the the last two weeks, we are going door to door. We are not getting the expected response from the people. This is sad,” he said.
“I request people to be more responsible and get vaccinated,” he said.
“People must understand the global developments. They should extend cooperation with the state government and the district administration,” he requested. “Many may believe that they are fit, and one dose is enough. Vaccine hesitancy which was not there for the first dose is now visible for the second dose. However healthy one maybe, senior citizens, children live with them at their homes. In India, three generations live together in a home. I am making an appeal in the interest of one and all,” he said.
“Vaccine brings down the chances of infection. Even if one gets infected, the severity will be less. Even if hospitalized, the possibility of death is negligible. People should keep this in mind, and they must be more responsible. We are in the final stage. If all get fully vaccinated in the next two weeks, we will be placed well to deal with any situation,” he said.
