Karnataka: Metro trial runs begin on Mysuru Road-Kengeri section | Bengaluru News – Times of India

BENGALURU: Kengeri’s wait for Metro connectivity got closer to reality when Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited on Tuesday commenced trial runs on the western extension of the Purple Line (7.5km Mysuru Road-Kengeri).
BMRCL operated a six-car train to check the schedule of dimensions — distance between the centre of the track and the nearest structure — along the route to ensure there are no structural obstructions when trains run. BMRCL is expected to test the signalling system by operating trains along the route every day.
The section which is slated to open for commercial operations in June is expected to cater to 75,000 passengers a day.
Officials said the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety may inspect the corridor in May and after his nod, BMRCL can commence commercial operations.
Travel time between Mysuru Road and Kengeri will be 15 minutes. The elevated line will have seven stations — Nayandahalli, Rajarajeshwari Nagar, Jnanabharathi, Pattanagere, Kengeri bus terminal, Kengeri and Challaghatta.
BMRCL has missed multiple deadlines for this corridor — December 2018, March 2019, November 2019, October 2020 , February 2021 and April 2021.
