Karnataka: Issue of including Lingayats in OBC list resolved, says Nalin Kumar Kateel | Mangaluru News – Times of India

MANGALURU: Even as chief minister BS Yediyurappa has deferred a decision on including Veerashaiva-Lingayats in the OBC list of the Central government, BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel kept mum on the issue saying that the issue has been resolved.
Yediyurappa, who also belongs to the same community, was forced to defer the decision under pressure from his cabinet colleagues on Friday.
When asked about the development, party state president Nalin Kumar Kateel told reporters here on Saturday that the issue has already been resolved. “The chief minister has already given clarification and the issue has been resolved yesterday itself,” Kateel said.
Kateel and deputy chief minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan, who were in Mangaluru for a Grama Swarajya convention to be held at Bantwal, asserted that there is no confusion about cabinet reshuffle that the chief minister and party high command will take a decision jointly. Kateel categorically denied the rumours about replacement of Yediyurappa as the chief minister.
“No discussions on leadership change have taken place. Such questions are being asked for the past three – four months. I would like to ask you whether any such discussions (on leadership change) have taken place? None of the party leaders have discussed about leadership change in the state. Similarly, there is no confusion in BJP about cabinet rejig. There is nothing wrong in MLAs demanding the minister’s post. The chief minister and our party national leaders will discuss about the cabinet reshuffle and take a final decision. All our MLAs will be accepting the decision of the party,” Kateel said.
Meanwhile, Ashwath Narayan, who also had demanded induction MLC C P Yogeeshwar in the state cabinet during the reshuffle, said “leaders can demand minister’s post, but it is the chief minister who has the final authority to decide and all MLAs are bound to adhere to party’s decision.”
