Karnataka: Dakshina Kannada reports lowest daily tally of Covid cases since April 27 | Mangaluru News – Times of India


MANGALURU: Karnataka’s Dakshina Kannada district reported 536 Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, the lowest daily spike since April 27.
The district was recording a steady increase, with an average of 1,000 cases, after 486 fresh cases were reported on April 27.
The district saw 31,090 cases in May, which is nearly three times higher than the first wave’s monthly peak of 10,233 cases recorded in September 2020.
The district recorded five more fatalities during the day, taking the death toll to 918.
Meanwhile, the active cases have come down to 8,492, with 1,172 patients being discharged on Tuesday.
Deputy commissioner K V Rajendra said that the district has set up a team of experts from eight medical colleges, to prevent the possibilities of patients discharged after undergoing treatment for Covid-19, contracting black fungus.
A team of doctors from the community medicine departments of medical colleges will follow up on them, especially those who were on steroids and diabetic patients, he said.
