Karnataka: BS Yediyurappa plans statewide tour after MLC polls | Hubballi News – Times of India

HUBBALLI: Former chief minister and senior BJP leader B S Yediyurappa, who had been forced to shelve his earlier plan to tour the state, on Friday reiterated his intention to undertake a tour, which would encompass the whole of Karnataka, after the polls to the legislative council were held.
Yediyurappa, in Hubballi to participate in the ‘Jana Swarajya Yatra’ rally, said he would reserve a week’s time for each district, where he would endeavour to strengthen the party at its grassroots. “I will interact with the cadre, and efforts will be made to garner support of those communities that are traditionally opposed to the BJP,” the former CM said.
He said that the primary objective of the tour was to supplement the party’s efforts in bagging 140 seats in the 2023 assembly elections. Exhorting the BJP workers to keep their ears close to the ground, Yediyurappa said, “We must always be willing to respond to their grievances. It is only through such outreach initiatives that the party’s prospects can improve. We must offer redressal to the grievances of the Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes and earn their confidence.”
Exuding confidence of the saffron party, which is contesting 20 of the 25 seats in the legislative council heading to the polls, winning 18 of them, the former CM said, “The Congress is faced with an existential crisis.”
