Karnataka: BJP notice to disgruntled MLA Yatnal for embarrassing party and govt | Bengaluru News – Times of India

BENGALURU: The central disciplinary committee of the BJP on Friday issued a show cause notice to disgruntled BJP Vijayapura City MLA Basangouda Patil Yatnal for supposedly embarrassing the party and government.
The notice comes in the wake of series of public statements by Yatnal against chief minister B S Yediyurappa and the party state leadership on issues ranging from the Lingayat quota to lopsided allocation of funds apart from denying ministerial berths to loyal party leaders and cadre in favour of the “outsiders” and losing MLA candidates.
On Friday, the notice issued to Yatnal suggested that he has to respond to the notice within the next two weeks as to why action should not be taken against him.
The notice indicates that the public statements given by Yatnal had targeted CM B S Yediyurappa and had brought a lot of negative impression of the BJP government.
Yatnal has been at the forefront of the disgruntled BJP legislators who have voiced their opposition against CM Yediyurappa and the alleged interference of his second son and party state vice-president B Y Vijayendra in the administration.
It may be recalled that Yatnal had been warned in December 2020 by the BJP state in-charge and party national general secretary Arun Singh for his adverse statements against the government.
Prior to this, in 2019, the former union minister had also criticised the centre for not allocating funds towards Karnataka flood victims.
Speaking to the media, Yatnal on Friday said that he is yet to receive a copy of the said notice issued to him.
“I am yet to receive the true copy of the notice and all these statements of me being issued a notice is only rumours. Let us see as to what the notice says and then I will respond appropriately,” he said. Yatnal did admit that he was a “ lone tusker” who is fighting for truth and notices being issued to him were nothing new.
