Karnataka: 72 more Covid-19 cases reported from Manipal Institute of Technology | Mangaluru News – Times of India

UDUPI: Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) reported 72 more Covid-19 positive cases on Monday. With this, the total number of cases reported from the campus that was declared a containment zone last week touched 371.
Dr Prashanth Bhat, nodal officer for Covid-19, Udupi told TOI that they are expecting to complete testing of all students in the containment zone in the next two days. So far, 1,700 students have been tested. Initially, priority was on testing symptomatic and primary contacts. he added
Meanwhile, Udupi district reported 113 fresh cases of which, 84 are from Udupi, 10 are from Kundapur and 18 cases are from Karkala district. Covid positive cases are being reported from other educational institutions too. Nearly, 10 positive cases were reported from a government first grade college in Karkala and nine positive cases from a private residential school’s hostel in Kunjarugiri. Out of 113 positive cases reported from the Udupi district, 21 were symptomatic and 92 were asymptomatic. While 106 patients are in home isolation and seven were admitted to a hospital.
