Greta Thunberg toolkit: Much ado about nothing? | Bengaluru News – Times of India

BENGALURU: Disha Ravi’s arrest suggests authorities are serious about cracking down on the issue of the toolkit tweeted by Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg. The toolkit had come under criticism from the government and its supporters in the past week and Delhi police had registered an FIR on February 4, albeit without naming any individual.
Delhi police have booked Disha for sedition and criminal conspiracy besides other charges. A review of the toolkit tweeted by Thunberg and allegedly shared by Disha, shows that it is nothing more than a booklet which helps people familiarize themselves with ongoing protests in India. It also suggests certain actions, including online campaigns.
Activists say most ‘social justice’ campaigns on social media use toolkits all the time.
“Note: This is a document meant to enable anyone unfamiliar with the ongoing farmers protests in India to better understand the situation and make decisions on how to support farmers based on their own analysis,” the toolkit reads.
It lists prominent Twitter handles including the PMO that campaigners may want to tag to ensure attention from decision makers. The toolkit explains further aspects of the ongoing protests and proposes various types of action people who want to render support to the cause can take.
