Four rowdies attempt to set up criminal empire in Mangaluru, held | Mangaluru News – Times of India


MANGALURU: The Mangaluru city police have arrested four notorious rowdy-sheeters who were planning to establish an organised crime syndicate in the city. Their arrest in recent dacoity cases involving two bikers in separate incidents, in the outskirts of the city, led to the unearthing of a bigger and wider conspiracy, including the attempt to murder an underworld gangster’s associate.
The arrested accused are Deekshith Poojary,32, a resident of Kulashekar, who is currently staying at Shivabagh, Chandrahas Poojary, 34, a resident of Someshwara, Prajwal, a resident of Kotekar and Santosh Poojary or Nayi Santhu,38, a resident of Chelar, Surathkal, said N Shashi Kumar, city police commissioner, Mangaluru, here on Tuesday.
Deekshith and three others, who are involved in various crimes, including murders, attempt to murder, under the Arms Act, drugs, robbery and in other cases, had stopped a biker at Neermarga under Mangaluru town police station limits on March 17. The bike rider, who was on the way to the market, early in the morning, was robbed of his vehicle,cash, cellphone and other valuables at knife-point. The next day, the gang also attacked another biker, working in a printing press, in the early morning, near Moodushedde, and took away his bike and other valuables. The gang threatened them with dire consequences, if their crimes were reported to the police. The victim managed to file a complaint after getting an assurance from the police, regarding his safety.
Police started an investigation and arrested the gang members, and seized the robbed vehicles and valuables, based on vital clues. The arrested accused spilled the beans upon being interrogated. The police learnt that the accused had planned several criminal activities in the city.
