Dakshina Kannada district administration opens all border roads | Mangaluru News – Times of India

MANGALURU: Even as Kasaragod district has made interstate movement restrictions more rigid by making RT-PCR test mandatory for daily commuters once in 21 days, Dakshina Kannada district administration has opened all of its border roads.
Dakshina Kannada district administration issued an order allowing the movement of people through all border roads that connect Kasaragod district of Kerala, with some riders.
As per the order issued by deputy commissioner KV Rajendra, daily commuters will have to obtain monthly passes from their respective gram panchayat/town panchayat to travel between Dakshina Kannada and Kasaragod. Commuters should enter details of their passes at the checkposts before proceeding. Similarly, they also will have to undergo medical screening at the checkposts. If anyone from Kerala wants to enter Dakshina Kannada and stay here permanently, they will have to submit application through the Seva Sindhu web portal. In such cases, entry will be allowed only through two major checkposts at Talapady near Mangaluru and Jalsoor near Sullia. They will have to undergo quarantine as per the Karnataka guidelines too.
DC Rajendra said, “Interstate movement through borders was restricted as per orders issued in March to contain Covid-19 spread. Meanwhile, as per the state government’s order dated July 30, the unlock-3 guidelines have been relaxed rules allowing various activities. Hence, a decision has been taken to allow daily commuters to travel on border roads as per the guidelines of the health department.”
