Covid: Gyms, party halls inside apartments, residential complexes in Bengaluru prohibited from operating | Bengaluru News – Times of India

BENGALURU: Citing that crowding in gymnasiums inside apartments and residential complexes of the city is undermining Covid-19 appropriate behaviours like social distancing, city police commissioner Kamal Pant on Wednesday ordered that no gymnasiums inside apartments and residential complexes can operate for an unspecified period.
Similarly, party halls inside apartment complexes too have been prohibited from operating. Earlier, in the prohibitory orders issued on April 4, the city top cop had stated “Operation of swimming pools , including those located in apartment complexes, is prohibited. Operation of gyms with more than 50% capacity is prohibited.”
Since the order was not clear whether it included standalone gyms and those located inside apartment complexes, apartment occupants continued using the gyms inside their respective apartments.
According to Pant, there was a considerable increase in the number of people using gyms inside apartment complexes and therefore they decided to prohibit them.
“For the purpose of effective implementation of Covid-19 protocol, it is considered necessary to issue an addendum to prohibitory order issued earlier,” his latest order read.
Operation of amenities like swimming pool, gymnasium and party halls..etc in apartment/residential complexes in the limits of Bengaluru city is prohibited, the order said.
Further, Pant clarified that standalone gyms can continue to operate with a ceiling of 50% capacity.
