BENGALURU: For the first time in nearly four months, Bengaluru on Friday crossed the 1,000-mark in Covid-19 cases reported in 24 hours. The state capital made up 1,037 of the 1,587 cases reported across the state.
The last time the city logged over 1,000 cases in a day was on November 22, 2020, when it saw 1,039 infections. Karnataka too reported a four-digit spike for the fourth day in a row. In all, there are 12,067 active cases in the state, and 8,623 of them in Bengaluru. With 10 more deaths reported, the state’s daily Covid fatality rate stands at 0.6 %.
Cases up in Tumakuru, Kalaburagi, Mysuru
The 24 state hours conducted and the 91 daily ,884 tests positivity in the rate last stood at 1.7 %. A rise in daily cases was also seen in Kalaburagi (61), Tumakuru (50), Mysuru (49), Dakshina Kannada (47), Bidar (40) and Belagavi (37). Except Bagalkot, all 29 districts reported at least one Covid case.
Of the 10 deaths reported, three people had no co-morbidities. Six of the deaths were from Bengaluru. An 84-year-old woman suffering from cough and breathlessness died in a private hospital on March10, the same day she was admitted. Across the state, 131 patients are in ICUs — 46 in Bengaluru and 16 in Kalaburagi.
