Bengaluru: Murder accused enters businessman’s flat, gets sloshed | Bengaluru News – Times of India

BENGALURU: A 22-year-old mentally unstable man accused of killing his father managed to slip into a businessman’s posh flat in Domlur where he downed liquor for hours and slept while the household members were away ushering in the New Year in Goa.
Abhay Kumar Hanjura, businessman and resident of Pride Picassa apartment in Domlur 2nd Stage, had left for Goa with his family early December 30 morning.
According to police sources, Abhay gave his flat keys to the apartment security guard Girish, asking him to hand them over to Anil, his domestic help, who would come to water the plants a few hours later.
However, around 7am, Raghuveer Kumbar, who is from Belagavi and was previously arrested for killing his father after he was chided for playing the now banned PUBG game, entered the apartment complex without the notice of the guard at the gate. Assuming him to be Anil, the guard at the reception, Girish, handed over Abhay’s flat keys and showed Raghuveer to the lift as well.
Raghuveer, who reached the flat, saw the bar counter inside, downed liquor to his heart’s content and slept. Around 9.30am, Anil came asking for the keys and the guards said a person was already inside the flat.
Anil produced his credentials and rushed to the flat to find the door locked from inside. Raghuveer, who was under the influence of alcohol, was unable to open the door. The guards entered Abhay’s house through the neighbour’s balcony and police, who had been summoned by then, took Raghuveer into custody.
The security guards contacted Abhay’s family members on WhatsApp video call and informed them about the incident. On January 2, Abhay returned to the city. He visited the police station to file a complaint and came to know that cops had let off Raghuveer assuming that he was mentally ill.
Abhay registered a complaint and on January 4 police arrested Raghuveer and sent him to judicial custody. A case was registered under IPC section 511 (attempting to commit offences) and 448 (house trespass).
Raghuveer had in September 2019 allegedly murdered his father Sankrappa Kumbar, 65, after he fought with him over the latter’s PUBG addiction. He had chopped his father’s legs at their residence in Belagavi district.
He was arrested and later released after he was found to be mentally ill. He was admitted in a hospital for treatment. Raghuveer, who recovered partially, reached Bengaluru and took up various jobs in Attibele but never stayed at one place.
