Bengaluru: Dhaba owner, employees assault two customers over bill payment | Bengaluru News – Times of India

BENGALURU: A dhaba owner and his employees allegedly assaulted two customers over a bill-payment row on the night of January 16.
Pradeep V, 30, a liquor marketing businessman from Srinagar and his friend Jayanth sustained injuries in the incident.
Girinagar police have registered a case against six persons, including the dhaba owner, based on a complaint filed by Pradeep on Sunday. Police said Pradeep and Jayanth had gone to Kings Court Dhaba on 80 Feet Road, Girinagar on Saturday.
Around 11.15pm, they received a bill of Rs 650. “I tried to pay the amount using Google Pay but was unable to complete the transaction due to a network issue. I asked the supplier to bring a swiping machine so that I could use my debit card. He said they don’t have swiping devices. The cashier suggested I deposit my mobile phone till we get money from a nearby ATM. I told them Jayanth will bring the cash and I’ll wait in the dhaba. The dhaba owner then hurled abuses for not having cash with me. I told him that he was at fault for not having a swiping machine. He and his employees beat me and my friend,” Pradeep told police in the hospital, where he was treated for head injuries. Police said the dhaba owner and staff closed the main gate of their premises and assaulted the duo with wooden logs. The suspects are absconding.
