Bengaluru: Board BMTC buses using your April passes till July 8 | Bengaluru News – Times of India

BENGALURU: The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) will extend the validity of ordinary monthly passes of April 2021 till July 8.
While transport employees went on an indefinite strike from April 7 to 21, the government announced lockdown from April 27 due to Covid-19. Many pass holders were demanding extension of the validity to compensate for the loss of days due to non-operation of services.
BMTC officials said QRcode based digital ticketing will be provided in all buses. BMTC will operate 2,000 buses on major routes from Monday. It will also operate17 Vayu Vajra airport services (117 trips) between Kempegowda International Airport to Kempegowda bus station (Majestic) and Electronics City. “Bus services will be operated between 6am and 7pm. Frequency of services will be extended based on passenger volume,” said a BMTC release.
Officials said vaccination has been made mandatory for all staff. The crew and passengers must wear masks. The number of passengers is restricted to 50% of the seating capacity. “Passengers will be allowed to board the bus only if seats are available. Buses should be stopped at designated stops for boarding and deboarding,” it added.
“Passengers without face masks are not allowed. They should maintain social distance while boarding/ alighting the buses and follow the queue system. If permitted seats are occupied, passengers should not board the bus. Passengers suffering from fever and other ailments should refrain from travelling,” the release stated.
