The third of the list of beneficiaries for taking the Covid vaccine will be ready by March-end. While the first list was dedicated to frontline workers, the second list included those from BBMP, revenue and police personnel. The third list will contains names of the general public who are above the age of 50 and those suffering from comorbidities. BBMP will use the services of Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) and Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery (ANM) in identifying the people suffering from comorbidities.
BBMP Commissioner N Manjunath Prasad said that they will also take up the survey in 500 slums located in the city and the data will be compiled and uploaded in CoWIN portal under the category- ‘our community data’. As the population to be covered is huge, the BBMP plans to take the help of the NGOs as well and BBMP plans to convene a meeting of the NGOs soon.
In the first phase, 1, 83,567 beneficiaries had registered in the CoWIN portal and so far 47,528 had taken the jab (25.89 per cent). Prasad said that though the target achievement was poor, they still planned to vaccinate 15,000 to 20,000 beneficiaries per day and it would take a fortnight to cover the remaining beneficiaries. He said vaccination hesitancy still persisted with a section of frontline workers.
Meanwhile, BBMP could achieve 35 per cent of vaccination target on Wednesday (up to 7 pm). The maximum vaccination was achieved in Mahadevapura zone with 74 per cent while the lowest was in Bommanahalli with 11 per cent achievement.
Chitradurga became the first district in the state to achieve 100 per cent target in vaccination on Thursday, according to the data provided by the health department. The district had succeeded in inoculating 169 beneficiaries in two sites. The lowest inoculation was at Ramanagar where only 56 (9.7 pc) could be inoculated against the target of 576 beneficiaries.
