among us: Among Us winning guide: 15 best tips and tricks for crew members – Times of India
Social deduction game Among Us is the latest rage in mobile gaming. The game, developed by US-based InnerSloth studio, saw a sudden surge in popularity after a Twitch streamer with 2.8 billion followers started playing it. Here are 15 best tips and tricks for winning if you are a crew member. We also have tips and tricks for the impostors in our winning guide.
Finish the tasks to beat the impostor(s)
You have certain tasks to finish in the game that have to be attended to at all times. If the crew members are able to finish all the tasks before the impostor is able to kill everyone, they win. So, make it a priority to keep completing tasks.
Attend to the sabotaged spot immediately
When the impostor(s) sabotage a part of the spaceship, then as a crew member, your first priority should be to fix that because if the sabotaged spot is not fixed in time, you may lose the game.
Learn the tasks
Each map has a different set of tasks. It is better to learn how to do them as it becomes easier for you then to finish. When you focus on completing the tasks, you’ll get to know more about them and they do not seem difficult once you learn how to do them.
Try to learn the maps
As you keep on playing the games, try to learn the maps. Most of the areas would get registered in your memory as you learn to navigate but you can also take a screenshot of the map and memorise the locations and the layout. It will help with your deductions and of course, navigation.
Be alert about someone disappearing near you
Keep a lookout for any nearby player suddenly disappearing. The skin colours of players will help. If someone around you suddenly disappeared, there are high chances of them being imposters.
Report a dead body immediately
Report a dead body immediately upon finding it. Do not wait or else someone else can see you near it and hence, accuse you of being the impostor.
Be vigilant of someone being near the dead body
If anyone was present very close to you when you reported a dead body, then make sure you bring it up during the chat.
Call emergency meetings wisely
Call emergency meetings only when you can give some kind of reason or proof to implicate a player as an impostor. For example, accusing someone for staying rooted in some spot for some time or double backing on their route are not solid reasons to implicate. A crew member can also behave that way. But seeing someone disappear or seeing someone come out of a room where a body is found just after he/she came out are solid ones. If you call the meeting without any reason, others may vote you out or leave the game themselves.
Check if the player at task location is actually doing it
If you find someone at the task location, check if they have actually been doing the tasks. Whenever a task gets finished, it shows the progress in the taskbar. The impostor cannot do the tasks (but you know that). For example: There are atleast four areas in The Skeld map where you can see if the task is being done or not if someone else is already there: MedBay, Shields, Navigation and Storage.
Observe the nearby vent areas
Keep a lookout for vents near the task zones, especially in Electrical, MedBay and Security in The Skeld map. These are perfect locations for the impostor to kill a crew member busy with a task and then disappear easily. When an impostor is getting out of a vent close to you then you can see it opening and so, can rush towards that room to apprehend the impostor.
Check the camera feed but don’t stay in the room for a long time
You can check the cameras in Security occasionally but don’t just keep standing there for like forever. Being the Big Brother can be tempting but you are in a room that’s not monitored which makes for another perfect murder spot for the impostor.
Read the chats carefully
Among Us is not a social deduction game for nothing. How a player chats reveals a lot about them. Sometimes, an impostor can be caught by just the way he/she chats.
Accuse with reason or proof
When accusing someone on chat, make sure you have got a solid reason or proof. You can explain the course of action by a player that led you to suspect them.
Stand up for who you think are the innocents
Try to stand up for players who you think are clearly innocent based on what you saw or deduced. Do not just sit back and observe the chats. Involve yourself.
Come back to help after dying
Even when you are dead, you can help finish the tasks and thus help your team win.
