Ramanagara District Will Be Renamed ‘Bengaluru South’ Soon: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar

In a late-night post on X, he stated that the government was soliciting public feedback on the district’s renaming. “It is the people of Ramanagara district’s wish that they be a part of Bengaluru’s glory and fame.” As a result, we’ve started working on it.”

Ramanagara district, created from Bengaluru Rural district by CM HD Kumaraswamy in 2007, bore the stamp of the JD(S) leader and was seen as a Vokkaliga stronghold.

DK Shivakumar proposed on Tuesday that the district map be changed to include Kanakapura – his electoral akhada – in Bengaluru Urban so that the fruits of growth might reach Bengaluru’s hinterlands as well.
