Plaster of Paris Ganesh Chaturthi idols are outlawed by BBMP.
The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has outlawed the production and selling of idols made of plaster of Paris and the usage of other dangerous materials as Ganesha Chaturthi approaches. Tushar Girinath, the chief commissioner of the BBMP, has told the relevant officers to fine offenders even if a banner wishing the public is put up in the city.
He was speaking outside of a meeting with numerous government agencies at the BBMP headquarters, including BESCOM, BWSSB, the police, and fire and emergency services. He claimed that instructions had been given to the authorities to guarantee that the festivities were friendly to the environment.

The Palike Chief Commissioner added that zonal representatives have been instructed to levy fines against persons who create idols using Pop and employ toxic paints, thermocol, and other dangerous materials.
Additionally, Girinath stated that preparations will be made for the idols to be submerged in Sankey Lake, Ulsoor Lake, Yediyur Lake, Hebbal Lake, and other bodies of water. At all lakes and Kalyani, he instructed the officials to hire workers, including skilled swimmers, on a shift system.
He noted that it was also necessary to set up boats, water pumps, and cranes. Additionally, he urged people to use portable immersion tanks and gave the police the go-ahead to take the necessary steps to stop fireworks from being set off during processions.
