The Manipur government designates the whole state as a “disturbed area” under the AFSPA.
The state of Manipur was designated a “disturbed area” by the government, and the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) was extended for six months commencing on October 1. According to a formal notification, 19 police stations throughout the valley have been excluded.
The action was taken in response to the widespread protests against the kidnapping and murder of two students that took place in Imphal on Tuesday.
