Man escapes from Karnataka prison by jumping off a 40-foot wall

An escape attempt by a rape suspect from a prison in Davanagere, Karnataka, last week was captured on CCTV and is currently trending online. The 23-year-old male was seen in the footage hobbling after the accident and then summoning an auto-rickshaw. But a day later, in Haveri, he was once more taken into custody.

The film opens with a large compound wall and trees on the city side; subsequently, the scene changes from still to dramatic. The man is seen in the video falling off of the building and suffering injuries a few seconds in. He has a not-so-pleasant landing, but he manages to get up and continue walking with a limp into the streets. Soon after, he boarded an auto rickshaw to leave the area.

The police informed the media that the fugitive suspect was from the state’s Karur region and had been apprehended after a sexual assault case was filed against him at the Davanagere Women’s Police Station earlier in August.
