MANGALURU: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids on over 30 premises in Sullia, Puttur, and Vittal in Karnataka’s Dakshina Kannada district on Tuesday morning.
According to sources, the NIA team along with the local police have conducted raids on the premises of those who are allegedly linked to the murder of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker Praveen Nettaru, who was hacked to death in front of his broiler shop in Bellare by three bike-borne miscreants when he was heading home on July 26.
Dakshina Kannada district police in August arrested three alleged assailants in the Nettaru murder case reported at Bellare police station.
The arrested were Shiyabuddin alias Shiyab, 33, from Sullia, Basheer, 29, a resident of Elimale, and Riyaz Ankathadka, 27.
Earlier, seven people, part of the conspiracy and recce team, were also arrested.
Sources said the NIA team has conducted raids on over 30 premises, including houses and other buildings, of those who are suspected to have a direct or indirect role in the murder of Praveen Nettaru in Puttur, Sullia, and Vittal.
A senior official of Dakshina Kannada district police confirmed the NIA raids.
However, the officer refused to divulge further details.
