The team from the Bengaluru unit of the DRI reached the departure bay earlier following a specific tipoff that a male passenger was attempting to smuggle out large quantities of US dollars.
Following preliminary checks, investigators intercepted the man, and inspection of his handbag and check-in luggage revealed a large number of $100 bills meticulously concealed to avoid detection by authorities. The dollar bills totaling 32,500 and worth nearly Rs 27 lakh as per their market value were seized by the DRI team.
