K’taka CM Siddaramaiah: Haven’t revoked hijab ban yet, matter to be discussed
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday clarified the state government hasn’t revoked the hijab ban that the previous BJP-led government had imposed in the state. “We haven’t done it yet. I was responding to a question when I said that we are contemplating on lifting the restriction on wearing hijab… The matter will be discussed with government officers first,” Siddaramaiah added.
Invoking ‘appeasement politics’ against the Congress ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Vijayendra asserted that “the employment and literacy rate among minorities remains at 50% even after so many years of independence.” Congress has never made an effort to improve minority conditions.”
“Congress supports the divide and rule strategy that the British occupying force had implemented. It’s like preserving the British heritage,” he remarked.
