Ryshanth, the superintendent of police, Davangere district shared the video and said that this is the first time for Karnataka police to identify a dead body by using the app. He wrote, “A murder had occurred in Vidyanagar Police station limits of an unknown person. The person was identified using the #MCCTNS application. Later the case also got detected. Usually, this application is used to verify suspicious persons on the road during night rounds. For the first time the application was used to identify a dead body and proved to be very useful. Thanks to the FPB unit of Davanagere.”

In November last year, Bengaluru police arrested an accused who is said to be absconding from the last 12 years through the M-CCTNS app. The cops also said that the fingerprint scanner had verified the details of the accused through the database that was collected earlier.

A senior officer then clarified that this app doesn’t store any details of the accused but maintains a database of people with the criminal history. He then said, “M-CCTNS app doesn’t store fingerprints but merely verifies it against the fingerprint database of previously arrested persons. It’s quite handy during random checks of suspects and night rounds.”
