Karnataka Elections: Four time MLA from JD(S) AT Ramaswamy joins in BJP

Senior MLA from Arkalgud constituency, AT Ramaswamy, who resigned from Janata Dal (Secular) party, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party at the national capital on Saturday. Ramaswamy won from Arkalgud constituency four times, and he was reportedly denied ticket this time by the JD(S).
Speaking at the BJP’s headquarters in New Delhi, AT Ramaswamy said, “BJP party and its leaders are the reason why India is being recognized globally. I am very happy to join this national party and I will continue serving the people of Karnataka and my Arkalgud.” The BJP is yet to release the first list of candidates who will be contesting in the assembly elections.
Union minister Pralhad Joshi on Friday said that the BJP is likely to reveal the first list of candidates on either April 6 or 7. Both Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) have already released their first list of candidates and are gearing up to finalize the next list of potential candidates in the remaining constituencies.
The Election Commission of India on Wednesday announced that assembly elections in the state will be held on May 10 and results will be declared on May 13. The last date for filing nominations is April 20 and the last date to withdraw the nomination is April 24.
