In 4 years, Bengaluru’s stray dog population decreased by 31,000.
According to a Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) survey, the number of stray dogs in the city has dropped by 31,000 since 2019.
Sources from the civic body estimate that there are 2.8 lakh stray canines in Bengaluru, which is 31,000 fewer than there were last year.
In July, the civic organization of Bengaluru began a 14-day survey of stray dogs throughout the city. The previous such assessment was conducted in 2019, even before the COVID-19 outbreak, when there were 3.1 lakh stray dogs.
