Bengaluru-Mysuru expressway toll hiked by 22%; Check new rates – Report

Commuters using the recently-inaugurated Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway are in for bad news as the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has decided to hike the toll fees on the completed stretch from Bengaluru to Nidaghatta by 22 to 23 per cent, The Times of India reported.

The toll fees will be increased for all types of vehicles. This comes in the midst of several controversies after toll collection began on March 14, with protests from political parties such as the Congress and the Janata Dal (Secular), among other groups against the allegedly high toll fees charged for motorists.

“The hike will come into force on Saturday (April 1) and the revision is an annual exercise based on the Wholesale Price Index,” an official from the NHAI told the publication.
The NHAI had set a toll of ₹220 for mini-buses and ₹460 for buses for a one-way journey on the expressway. That means trucks and buses with two axles will have to pay ₹690 for a round trip within 24 hours.
