Bengaluru has a law that forbids carpooling and imposes fines of up to 10,000.
Carpooling was outlawed in Bengaluru by the Karnataka government on Saturday. If found guilty, a fine of up to 10,000 might be imposed, and the vehicle’s registration could be suspended.
The use of whiteboard vehicles for business commute reasons was deemed “illegal” by the state transportation department. After receiving objections from the taxi associations, the government made the decision.
