The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) intends to take strict action against ornamental lights encircling municipal avenue trees.
“We have carried out the drive to free avenue trees of fairy lights more than twice across the city. Officials from the Forest Department of BBMP have removed these lights on multiple occasions, however, the shop- owners put them back. We are aware that the number of trees with decorative lights has grown. We will now take more stringent actions against the defaulters,” said Sarina Sikkaligar, deputy conservator of forest (DCF), BBMP.
