A 23-year-old man commits suicide after alleging police abuse; Police refute the allegations.
The 23-year-old male and another individual were transported to Biligere police station as part of an investigation following a confrontation between two groups, according to the police.
In Nagarle village, Nanjanagudu taluk, Mysuru district, a 23-year-old man burned himself on fire on Tuesday, citing custody mistreatment by the Biligere in a video uploaded online. However, police have refuted the allegations.

“Before he could be questioned, he managed to escape from the police station, set himself ablaze by pouring petrol at 11.30 pm on Sunday, and succumbed to burn injuries on Tuesday morning at KR Hospital in Mysuru,” Nanjanagudu sub-division deputy SP Govinda Raju said. According to police, the dead and four others were mentioned in a complaint filed by another group alleging that the five persons had assaulted them. They were summoned to the police station, and the 23-year-old guy and another accused were taken there at 7 p.m.
“The 23-year-old man escaped from the police station around 8.30 p.m. under the guise of going to relieve himself.” “The other person was released because the charges were deemed minor,” Raju explained.
In a video that has since gone viral, the victim is said to be heard voicing his frustration and alleging police mistreatment while in jail. He said that the cops were putting pressure on him. HT was unable to independently verify the video’s authenticity. The police, on the other hand, disputed that he was tortured in the station.
