Air India will operate Airbus A350 aircraft on Delhi-New York and Newark flights starting this winter

Air India said on Monday that its flagship Airbus A350-900 aircraft will operate on the Delhi-New York and Delhi-Newark routes beginning November 1, 2024 and January 2, 2025, respectively, revolutionizing the customer experience on these strategically vital routes. According to an airline release, the A350 deployment would provide Air India’s Premium Economy class experience on these two itineraries. Guests will have the option of 24 wide seats configured in a 2-4-2 arrangement in a dedicated, upmarket cabin with greater legroom and other amenities.

Air India’s A350 aircraft has 28 private suites in Business class with full-flat beds in a 1-2-1 arrangement and 264 roomy Economy seats in a 3-4-3 configuration. Each Business suite features direct aisle access, sliding privacy doors, and a separate wardrobe.

The A350’s cabin seats are equipped with the latest-generation Panasonic ex3 in-flight entertainment (IFE) system and HD screens, which provide more than 2.200 hours of entertainment content from across the world. Campbell Wilson, Air India’s CEO and Managing Director, stated, “We are encouraged by the positive guest feedback we have received from the domestic deployment of our A350s to offer our hero product on the Delhi-New York IFK and Delhi-Newark routes.”

This is a huge step forward for our US business and demonstrates our dedication to continual improvement.” “The new seats, in-flight entertainment systems, and soft goods will all work together to provide our guests with excellent comfort and service that reflects the new Air India.

We think that this improved offering would strengthen Air India’s position as a leading carrier and entice travelers seeking a world-class flying experience between India and the United States.” With the introduction of the A350, 60 percent of all Air India flights to the United States will have new or enhanced cabin interiors.

Air India also flies a three-class-configured Boeing 777-300ER on all flights from Mumbai to New York JFK and Newark, with 8 opulent First Class suites, 40 full-flat beds in Business, 280 Economy seats, and new IFE systems. Air India now serves five destinations in the United States: New York JFK, Newark, Washington DC, Chicago, and San Francisco.

The airline provides 51 weekly flights to the United States from India. Since its first flight on October 15, 1932, Air India has created a comprehensive domestic network with nonstop flights to places all over the world, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Europe, the Far East, South East Asia, Australia, and the Gulf. After 69 years of government ownership, Air India and Air India Express were welcomed back.
