IPS officer Khalid suspended for authorizing ‘killer’ Mumbai hoarding without DGP office approval.

MUMBAI:The Maharashtra government suspended IPS officer Quaiser Khalid on Tuesday for allowing a massive hoarding that collapsed last month, killing 17 people on railway land, without the approval of the DGP office, citing administrative lapses and irregularities on his part in sanctioning the billboard, according to an official.

On May 13, the 140×120 ft hoarding in Mumbai’s Ghatkopar area collided with a petrol pump due to strong winds and unseasonal rains.

The state home department issued the suspension order for Khalid, who is now serving as Additional Director General of Police or ADG (Protection of Civil Rights), according to the official.
